The most critical decision

When you’re getting started, you’ve got to draw a line in the sand and have a clear idea of what you want.
Right at the beginning is where you define what you stand for. And that’ll be the way people see you.
This point is critical because people will tell themselves a story about you. And that story is not defined by what you say, but defined by what you do.
Be very clear with what you stand for and fight for it. There’ll be times when you’ll say: only this time it’s okay. However, if you pass even the smallest thing, it’ll backfire you in the future, and you’ll compromise your story.
You’ve got to truly believe in what you fight for. That means finding the coherence between what you say and what you do. Otherwise, in you don’t believe in what you do, why would we do it in the first place?
