A few days ago I had an idea: what if I start a group chat with people I know where we help each other and share our goals for the week?
That’s what I did. I told a friend about it and he loved it. So we created a whatsapp group right away to not just help each other, but to push ourselves to do the work.
It’s been a couple of days since we got started and shared our goals for the week… It’s already paid off.
Two key reasons here that’s making this thing work:
- It forces you to focus: when you share your goals with others you feel optimistic, therefore you push yourself making a big promise and focus on the important stuff. That means that you don’t plan for things that shouldn’t be done, so it automatically forces you to come back and focus on your promise.
- Once you’ve made your goal public, you’re gonna have a hard time admitting you missed them. And your pride won’t let you do that. Which is fantastic.
And of course is not just about forcing yourself to do the work. That’s a given. What happens here is that with this sort of things you have the opportunity to learn new things, share what you know so you can help others and most importantly, you surround yourself with winners. Success is contagious.
I totally recommend you to gather some people you know and create a group to help each other. If possible find somebody who would give you a hard time if you miss a deadline.
Give it a try. It’s worth it.
